A Power Stronger Than Itself
The Department of Music offers warm congratulations to George Lewis, Case Professor of American Music, whose 2008 monograph A Power Stronger Than Itself: The AACM and American Experimental Music (Univ. of Chicago Press, 2008) has won a 2009 American Book Award from the Before Columbus Foundation.  The winners of this award will be formally announced and recognized on Sunday, October 11, at the Nuyorican Poets' Café (236 E. 3d St., NY, NY), from 7:30-9PM, where several of the winning authors will read from their work.
