Daniel Melamed (adjunct professor) is teaching the fall 2016 seminar Bach: St. Matthew Passion (Music GU 4153). Melamed is Professor of Music (Musicology) at Indiana University. His research interests include J. S. Bach and older members of the Bach family, performance practice, Mozart's operas and problems of authenticity and attribution. Professor Melamed is the author of Hearing Bach's Passions; J. S. Bach and the German Motet; and co-author (with Michael Marissen) of An Introduction to Bach Studies. He edited Bach Studies 2 (Cambridge) and Bach Perspectives 8. He has published articles and reviews in Journal of the American Musicological Society, Bach-Jahrbuch, Beiträge zur Bachforschung, Journal of Musicology, Music & Letters, Early Music, Bach, Notes, Cambridge Opera Journal, and Mozart-Jahrbuch, and has published editions with Hänssler-Verlag, Carus-Verlag, Harvard University, and A-R Editions.
