Hi All,
We moved pretty fast so don't worry too much if you're struggling a bit
this week. I'll be following up with this next week and covering a few
important things in more detail. Go through as many of the Max tutorials
(Help -> Max Tutorials) as you can. Seriously. I mean it. What are you
doing still reading this email?!? Go through the tutorials!!!!
Get the c74 iOS app in the App Store and download the Max external from here:
Put the unzipped folder in /Applications/Max5/Patches
I've posted the example c74 script for you to download:
There's a ReadMe and some comments in the patch itself that should help.
ScrapeyDemo shows all the possible UI elements. ScrapeySynth is the synth
patch I showed that's ready for you to modify. Play around, explore, and
do what you can to expand it. For now focus on the slider, pictslider
(xy), and toggle. You could also try the kslider (keyboard) if you're
feeling ambitious. As simple as this example is, it's entirely possible
to make an expressive musical instrument with just the synthesis elements
provided. See what you can do to make it interesting to you.
Some things to try:
- change the various scale objects in order to change the range of the interface elements
- add another pictslider and set it up to control the filter LFO
- remove the toggle button and let the touch events from the slider control the "Note On"
- make an entirely new interface to make an instrument that makes sense to you
Go through as many of the Max tutorials as you can. Did I mention that yet?
