10/3/2000 --- Class 1: Basic Tools for Producing Audio on the Web Basic introduction to web-audio. Workshop detailing the process of taking audio from a CD and publishing it on a website utilizing the most frequently used tools. Encoding, compression, plug-ins, etc... will be discussed.
10/10/2000 --- Class 2: Production Tools Continued and Flash Continue overview of commercially available applications for producing web-ready audio. RealAudio, QuickTime, MP3, Flash, etc... In class present and discuss two examples of such technologies from the web - one example should demonstrate 'compelling' use of the web as a medium for audio, and the other should illustrate a less 'compelling' use of the web. Also, if relevant, workshop any problems which arise from projects.
10/17/2000 --- Class 3: Advanced Techniques Other means of using audio on the web and project presentations. Java will be the main focus, with other methods presented as well. Present web-based project which uses audio in a 'compelling' way. Present and discuss projects - either as finished pieces or works in progress. Once complete, projects will be in a gallery accessible from the CMC pages.
