Evolving intelligent musical materials

For Evolving Intelligent Musical Materials, I have designed and implemented a software based algorithm which employs techniques and concepts drawn from artificial life and artificial intelligence for the generative composition of music. The work involves computational modeling of a musical system, theoretical work with regard to the quantifying of musical features, and creative work including the exploration of computer assisted composition, generative art, and my artistic interests. The end product of this dissertation project is a genetic algorithm that is capable of generating musical works which exhibit features in accordance with my specified musical and aesthetic goals.
