Austrian DJ CHRISTOPHER JUST began his career at the legendary Viennese “Motto” in 1982. Together with his studio partner DJ PURE he created the project ILSA GOLD and released the first 12 UP on the label Ma inframe in 1992. Catchy samples paired with an ironic breeze are the trademark of Ilsa Gold, the tracks UP and SILKE became celebrated anthems of the Rave- and Techno scene, and were followed by numerous performances all over Europe.
The MOVING SOUNDS FESTIVAL 2009 will take place from Friday Sep 11 - Monday Sep 14 2009, and will be a multi-event format meant to create an open forum for dialogue between music/sound related fields and other disciplines which
are often put in segregated categories.
Traditional and contemporary classical musical performances; Acoustic and electro-acoustic music, including interactive composition/performance, improvisation, pre-recorded soundtracks, and live interactive works; Sound art, installation art; DJ and remix performance, electronica, turntablism; Experimental genres: noise music, mash-ups, biomusic, etc.; Multimedia and hybrid genres; Music criticism; Cultural theory and criticism; Musicology and various historical musical perspectives; Music theory and music cognition
One of the many central themes of the festival will be an examination of the way technology functions as mediator between different genres and modes of expression, but actually the range of possible topics is eclectic and intentionally unbounded. As such, Moving Sounds is envisioned as a multi-day festival to include performances and concerts, exhibits, installations,
lectures, work-shops and panel discussions.
Venues include ACFNY, Le Poisson Rouge. Check www.acfny.org for exact venues and dates.
