Graduate Program Handbook

Official Policies of our MA/PhD and MA/DMA programs

The "Handbook" is the official policy document of the Department of Music's MA/PhD and MA/DMA programs.  Current graduate students in the Department are expected to be familiar with its contents and to consult it for answers to many policy questions that arise on a regular basis.

Please note that we have been revising the Handbook over the past two years, as Graduate School policies have been changing in significant ways over the same period, as have some of the policies of the individual areas of our Department.  Where the handbook comes into conflict with GSAS policies or University policies, those policies supersede the Handbook.  If you have any questions about a policy issue addressed (or not addressed) in the Handbook, please contact the Director of Graduate Studies for the Department or Gabriela Kumar, Graduate Program Coordinator.
