The Stone (avenue C and 2nd street)
Artistic director: John Zorn
Marco Cappelli, guitars / Avram Fefer, clarinets and sax/ Jose` Davila, trombone and tuba / Ken Filiano, double bass / Jim Pugliese, drums
IDR (Italian Doc Remix) is the result of an artistic exchange between Marco Cappelli and Jim Pugliese, whose mutual reverence for the villages' ritual music brought them to reflect on the distortion of memory among the second/third generation immigrants with a strong traditional background living in the New York cultural melting pot; to offer the audience an unconventional music that is geographically, chronologically and culturally distant from the original source, yet full of their tradition's essential elements. IDR released its first CD on the label ITINERA in June 2008 (http://www.itineramusica.it/).

Thursday, March 26 at 8:00 PM
301 Philosophy Hall (Graduate Student Lounge)

Benjamin Carson is a specialist in the psychology of music, and his compositions make use of traditional tonality, a wide-ranging rhythmic language, and an unusual dynamic range that sometimes blurs the boundary between intentional musical sounds and incidental environmental noises.
