Hello! Message-ID: <9303b8dc0806271519s1c159410qbe4813e96a7bda64@mail.gmail.com> Hello! I just found out about DorkBotAustin, but a few days too late for this month's meetup (I did the exact same thing in Boston last month). Any circuit benders around here? I've been getting into it recently, and it's a lot of fun. Unfortunately, everyone else has *also* been getting into it, so junky casio keyboards are selling for ridiculous prices on ebay. Does anyone know a good source of cheap synths/drum machines/toys/parts around Austin? I haven't found a reliable store or dumpster, although I did find some awesome trimpots mounted in industrial-looking metal boxes in a construction dumpster last week. I look forward to the next meeting! -mark From david at davidnunez.com Fri Jun 27 19:37:43 2008 From: david at davidnunez.com (David Nunez) Date: Fri Jun 27 19:37:52 2008 Subject: [dorkbotaustin-blabber] new to the list. Ping Paul Baker (local circuit bender) re: http://www.treasurecitythrift.org/ ... at one point he had a huge stock of electronijunk he was practically begging people to offload and dorkbot-austin alumni who presented (or at least are involved with) circuit-bent projects (off the top of my head - I'm certainly forgetting people): Saturday Schroeder, Eric Archer, Paul Baker, Thomas Fang (Furby Youth Choir), themysterious H, Erich Ragsdale... Our dorkbot last April was a music themed event. Get on the AMODA list, and "oscillate" group on yahoo groups. artificial music machine is Thomas Fang's label that focuses on music that includes the noise/bent genre. Church of the Friendly Ghost events tend to attract benders. My impression is that the community is small and accessible in Austin, so find a couple of these guys and gals and you'll be hooked up in no time. Anyone else know of good circuit bending resources for Mark? Speaking of which - we don't have one planned right now, we should try to put something together for August. Anyone out there have anything to show off? -Nick > Hello! > > I just found out about DorkBotAustin, but a few days too late for this > month's meetup (I did the exact same thing in Boston last month). > > Any circuit benders around here?
