Hi Rob,
My name is Dave Hammond and I will be coming out to the meeting this month.
Two quick questions for you:
1. Are you a ham? I just passed my tech this month. Do you hang out much on
either the Towson or Baltimore repeaters? My callsign is KB3SFU.
2. I checked out http://vees.net and read your resume and I was hoping you
might be able to point me in the right direction. I have recently installed
"Tracks," a web based GTD app (getontracks.org). My lack of Apache /
Firewall experience makes me apprehensive about forwarding a port on my
router and opening up my Ubuntu server to use Tracks outside of my home. I'm
sure I could "brute force" a solution via reading anything and everything,
but right now I just don't have much time to dedicate to these tasks.
(Perhaps once I "get some things done" I will!) In the interim, are you
aware of any quick fixes for my dilemma? Some sort of easy-reader book or
tutorial that covers the obvious security holes I need to lock down when
running a public webserver?
I would be very appreciative of any suggestions you might have regarding
this. I look forward to meeting you on the 17th!
