Electronics Mayhem with Sejayno (feat. homemade instruments of Peter
Blasser) + Aaron Leitko + Starry Chatter
8:00-10:30pm
Phillips Hall,
801 22nd St, NW,
Rm B120 (in the basement)
(22nd and H Streets/GW Metro)
George Washington University
If you liked Peter Blasser's instruments from the April Dorkbot DC
meeting, you can listen to his instruments being played at The
Electric Possible ("DC's mad monthly laboratory for promethean sound
experiments").
"Members of sejayno release a morphic aura into the air through the
utilization of therapeutic breathing techniques, fumblings, and
fantasies about sexual tourism. "
Aaron Leitko (DC)--Leitko builds abstract electronic soundscapes with
sensitivity and precision and just enough gritty dirt to keep them
interesting.
Starry Chatter--Brand new DC based duo combines the analog electronics
of Dave Vosh (Safe) and the extended bass noise techniques of Jeff
Bagato (Tone Ghosting, Spaceships Panic Orbit).

DEADLINE for Advancing Robotic Research through an Open Source
High-Fidelity Simulation Framework and Competition
Under this effort, the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society is
soliciting faculty members
and their interested students from universities in the Greater Washington Area
(Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia and Baltimore) working in the
areas of multi-agent
cooperation, robotic mapping, communications networks, and sensory processing.
The participants will be provided with the necessary equipment and
knowledge needed to join the robotics and automation research
community in the area of Automated Guided Vehicles. A two-day tutorial
will be provided, during which the participants will be loaned a
simulation platform with all relevant software installed.
If interested, please make contact by August 17, 2007 with a succinct
statement of how you expect to benefit from your participation and why
you should be selected (emphasize skills and experience with respect
to the requirements of the competition). If selected, you are expected
to attend a two-day tutorial to be held at the National Institute of
Standards and Technology (NIST) on September 13-14, 2007.
The proposed effort is being administered under the auspices of the
recently formed IEEE Washington Section Robotics and Automation
Society Chapter. For more information, contact Dr. Stephen Balakirsky
at robosim at nist.gov or 301-975-4791.
