[dorkbotdc-blabber] AVR Programming or Arduino

I have also been working with the Arduino, mostly as part of my involvement
with the RepRap project. I have all the gear for programming PICs but not
the AVRs, though, so my experience is limited to using programmed chips. If
you are interested, though, you might check out the "bare bones arduino"
variant of the board, which can be had in kit form from the Modern device
Company (http://moderndevice.com/) for 10-15$US each in quantity. I am sure
that I am only one of many of the list who can help you with assembling the
boards, and testing them once assembled. it is really a very remarkable
platform- doubly so when the open source nature of the software and the
retail price of the hardware is considered. The RepRap group is looking
closely at replacing all of the PIC embedded programming with Arduino for
that reason...
If there is enough interest, I would be happy to coordinate a group buy, and
we could see if we could get enough to get the price down to 10$/ea.
