We should exchange ideas. Have you looked into Cineform Prospect HD?

Aha! Cool idea about the CAT6 converter. I am actually in the process of putting together a "backpack" system using the Blackmagic HDMI capture card for portable uncompressed capture, but don't have it together yet, still evaluating RAID options...
Ciao!

Oh I have the same HV20 and do need my desktop. But I consider that as portable. I use an HDMI to CAT6 converter which gives me about 60 feet of travel from the desktop (although imagining someone with a 40 lb desktop strapped to their back is quite amusing). I think HDV is good enough. So if we both bring our cams, we can do a 2 cam setup like was suggested.

I can also supply HDV (Canon HV-20) with a shotgun. And can also do
uncompressed, if I bring a workstation! How in the heck can you do
portable uncompressed HD?
Ciao!
