ah! you have the "school-yard samples" !!!!!
this is why Matlab and Simulink are so popular.
get the students hooked on it and you got 'em!
that said, they are very powerful tools and if i was
doing stuff for which they fit, i'd use 'em too.
btw - the head of language development at MathWorks
these days is Steve Johnson, the guy who wrote Yacc
and The Portable C Compiler at Bell Labs, and co-authored
"The Dragon Book" (compiler construction). Steve has
been working on compiling MATLAB for some time now.
it's seriously non-trivial to do and it's nice to see
how well it has turned out.
