If this is a one time deal you'll probably spend as much on shoebox
scanner as you would scanning the photos at $0.30-$0.50 a piece (if
not more -- good versions of these scanners are over the $1,000 mark).
There is one outfit, the cheesily named scanmyphotos.com that will
scan up to 1,000 photos for $49. I've never used their service but
they've been around for a while. They have a massive Kodak scanner
where you put in a pile of photos and it scans them.
