There are people out there that cannot do much else because of physical, cognitive, or social issues. TV is a necessary resource to keep these folks somewhat connected to village life, not to mention emergency bulletins. TV can be a vast wasteland, especially for those of us with large swaths of information forage. Not everyone is so lucky and it's these folks who can wrest a higher quality of life from this wasteland.<br>

If just one person decides to do something else instead of watch TV because of this, it will be a net good in my book. As a sign of government suckage though, yes, annoying.<br>
