lloopp - WORKSHOP - 22./23 und 24. April 2003

*dorkbot-linz [eins]* findet am 22./23 und 24. April 2003 bei Time`s Up
statt. Als Gast begrüssen wir _Klaus Filip_, einen der Mitentwickler der
Opensourcesoftware "lloopp"(http://loopool.live.fm/).Am ersten Tag
liegen die Schwerpunkte auf der Userseite. An den beiden anderen Tagen
beschäftigten wir uns mit den Ebenen des Programmierens bzw. der
Weiterentwicklung der Software.
_Tag eins:_ lloopp bietet dem/der AnwenderIn eine sehr flexible
Umgebung, die sich unterschiedlichsten Bedürfnissen anpassen kann.
Derzeit gibt es über 70 sogenannte "acts", mit verschiedenen
Aufgabenbereichen: Klangerzeuger auf Sample- oder Synth-Basis,
Kontrollerpatches, die beliebige Parameter ansteuern können,
Aufnahmeoptionen, Keyboard/Midi/Wacom-eingabe-patches, Plugins, etc. Wir
werden einen Überblick darüber verschaffen, Funktionsweisen erklären,
Probleme und Notwendigkeiten diskutieren.
_Tag zwei:_ lloopp im Detail: Es wird dabei auf generative
Kompostionsebenen und Schnittstellen in den Bereichen audio/video
eingegangen. lloopp ist open-source und kann daher von allen
weiterentwickelt werden, die sich mit Max beschäftigen. Eigene Ideen
lassen sich relativ einfach in die lloopp-Umgebung integrieren - viele
Dinge sind natürlich verbesserungswürdig. Ausserdem bietet lloopp eine
Reihe von Beispielen und Macros zur
eigenen Verwendung.
_Tag drei:_ Erarbeitung eigener Anwendungen und Abschlusskonzert mit
Klaus Filip/Martin Gut und Martinez an den Turntables.
Zur Teilnahme am Workshop empfiehlt sich die Mitnahme des eigenen
Laptops, mit der neuesten Version von lloopp vorinstalliert - wobei das
beides natürlich keine zwingende Bedingung ist.

interessierten Einzelpersonen oder Kollektiven der Intensivierung von
Wissensaustausch auf theoretischer und praktischer Ebene.

zusätzliche Möglichkeiten zum informellen Austausch zu geben und ein

unterstützende Kollaborationen zwischen Personen mit mannigfaltigen
Interessen und unterschiedlichen Wissensständen im lokalen Einzugsgebiet

electricity". Main aims are the presentations of investigative
non-commericial prototypes to like-minded people as well as an
accessibility to a broader public.

As our inaugral dorkbotevent, we are pleased to welcome _Klaus Filip_,
one of the implementors of lloopp for a 3-day workshop (!caution: time
extended) and presentation at Time`s up.
lloopp is a software written in max/msp (http://loopool.live.fm/),
designed for sample-based live-improvisation on a macintosh. lloopp is
freeware, open source and is written by musicians who use this very
software for their performances. anybody who is into max-programming is
invited to join in. the workshop has three days, whereas the first day
will be directed to the user-side of the topic, the second and third day
will be more for max-programmers, lloopp-related or not. the workshop
and presentation will be in german, but feel free to come and abuse our
mistranslation capacities.
->procedure:
_first day:_ lloopp offers a very flexible platform, that fits for
different needs and situations of live performing. there are over 70 so
called 'acts' for a variety of needs: soundgenerators on sample- or
synth-basis, controlling-patches, that adress any parameter of other
'acts, recording-options, keyboard/midi/wacom- input-patches, plugins,
etc. we will create an overview, explain functionalities, discuss
problems and needs.
_second day:_ max/msp/jitter/lloopp programming:general max-programming
on the one hand, lloopp-programming on the other. lloopp is open-source,
so it can be developed further by anybody who is into max. it is quite
easy to integrate own patches to the lloopp-environment and many things
on lloopp are a matter to improve of course.besides that, lloopp offers
quite a few macros for general use. caution, max is addictiv.
_third day:_ formulation of own applications and concert of Klaus
Filip/Martin Gut. Martinez runs the turntables
bring your own laptop with latest lloopp installed, but that is no
obligation of course.
