As you may know, at the BCS we normally arrange fairly serious talks and debates on current IT topics. This Christmas though we are trying something a little different as I had briefly mentioned at the GeekNight. The idea is to turn the event over to the audience, by allowing them 5 minutes to pitch their favourite gadget from 2008 - whether it be bought, 'mod-ed' or home-brewed. Chris Green, Editor of IT Pro, has agreed to open the evening by giving a whistle-stop tour of gadgets from the year. We are also hoping to get Jason Bradbury, presenter of the Gadget Show on Channel Five, to judge the session, alongside Chris Green. If you could please register by 3rd Dec by sending an email to bcsnlbgadgets@yahoo.co.uk with the following information: (I've filled in the bits I know!) - Full Name: - Job Title: - Contact Number: - Gadget you would like to pitch: - Why is your gadget the best? - BCS Member (Y/N) Please see our website for more info (and some boring rules!): http://www.nlondon.bcs.org/ From thedavegreen at googlemail.com Tue Dec 2 10:09:14 2008 From: thedavegreen at googlemail.com (Dave Green) Date: Tue Dec 2 10:09:41 2008 Subject: [dorkbotlondon-blabber] Geeks, Gizmos & Gadgets Christmas Show n' Tell, Covent Garden, Wed 10th Dec Message-ID: <9f2cc3d0812020709i2a8b06e0r43c3beba150ce006@mail.gmail.com> sorry, just spotted on the website - submissions deadline seems to have been extended to the end of this week (ie Dec 5) in case anyone else reads this in "Digest" format :) http://www.nlondon.bcs.org/ On 02/12/2008, Dave Green wrote: > just avoiding a clash with the Xmas Dorkbot on the 11th, the British Computer > Society are looking for live gadget demos (bought or home-made) in > Covent Garden on Wed 10th - submissions deadline is tomorrow (sorry > for short notice), but apparently there's a prize for the best! > > ---------- Forwarded message ---------- > I am writing the following missive on behalf of the British Computer > Society to invite you and your colleagues to the Gadgets & Gizmos > event that we are organizing on the 10th of December.
