Job Opportunity at CoolTan Arts: Podcasting Tutor

This project is funded by Ecorys Volunteering Fund and expires on 31 March 2012, with funding for 6 months editing after March.

Help our participant’s voices to be heard in their own words! Share your skills and skill up volunteers to help others... Participants are exploring the experience of people who access a personal budget. The need for this project came from CoolTan Arts participants who felt the process is complex and they are currently excluded from the decision making process. Volunteers in the group have varying levels of skills, and many experience mental distress. 

Filmmaking/ Podcasting Tutor role and responsibilities: 
- To teach relevant skills (use of a Tascam, Adobe audition and Audacity editing software)
- Assist members of the class with varying skill levels to record podcasts using Tascams, and edit their work using Adobe Audition.
- To facilitate the podcasting workshops to produce 100 podcasts (they don’t have to long or perfect, we just need 100 of them!) by the end of March 2012. 
- To involve participants at all levels of the project and complete workshop paperwork with them.
- To ensure all CoolTan equipment is handled adequately, securely, safely and stored properly.
- To update CoolTan Arts website with the podcasts as the project progress 

Personal Qualities and skills needed:
- Excellent recording and sound editing skills with Tascams, Adobe Audition and Audacity software.
- Teaching qualification or extensive workshop facilitation experience, including paperwork  and learner evaluations.
- Experience of working with adult learners.
- Reliability and ability to use initiative
- Good team working skills, friendly and approachable, ability to ask questions and follow instructions
- Respectful to others, patience, good sense of humour, flexible, creative
- Empathy for people with mental distress, or personal experience of mental distress essential.

This is a temporary, paid, part time position, four hours per week split across two 2-hours workshops. Pay dependent on experience. Immediate start!
