[dorkbotnyc-blabber] Artist Studio / Space for Rent?

Hey all,

I'm looking for some sort of shared artist / studio space to work on
robotics projects in. I cant deal with bumming off friends places and/or
doing it in my (tiny) bedroom anymore. I'm 23, male, relaxed, and tidy.
I'm employed full time as a web developer for a company in Manhattan. In my
spare time, I'm involved in a really rad, robotics / art project (located at
RepRap.org) Anyway, I'm looking for a dedicated space I can use for
research, as well as to keep a small inventory for the non-profit RepRap
Research Foundation (www.rrrf.org)

As for what I'd be doing in the space, there are a few main things:

1. assembling and running the robot. it doesnt make much noise, and doesnt
make any mess.
2. soldering circuit boards
3. some very light cutting / drilling / etc. i'm pretty much past this
point though, so it would be very infrequent.
4. storing the inventory for the RRRF store which consists of circuit boards
and other small things. it would also be ideal if i could mail out packages
from the studio space as well.
5. it would also be super sweet if i could receive packages at the space,
but this isnt too major.

I'm interested in a longer timeframe than a couple months. I really dont
want to have to move my studio around at all. If you know of any space
like this, or know someone who does, please email me back or call
515.290.6779. I look forward to hearing from you. I've going down the
craigslist path as well, but I figure that someone on this list would know
of a more robot friendly place I could find.

Also, I'm looking in the $250-$350 / mo. range.

Thanks,
Zach Smith
