[dorkbotnyc-blabber] theme song remixes

I really like the idea of remixing the theme.

I have a little different take on the idea though. I'm currently working on this idea of evolving remixes. The general premise is to iteratively remix...a remix of a remix if you will. I'm starting round 4 of my current evolution project next week. It's really cool listening to how people are building upon the ideas of the previous remix. www.remixin.org

In term of the dorkbot theme, what if we did a remix evolution on it?

In terms of the dorkbot site, when someone clicked on "hear the the theme" they would hear a randomly selected remix from the previous period's submissions. If someone wants to view past versions of the dorbot theme they could always go to the remixin site and hear any of them archived. However for the general listener they'll get served a new random track every time they click on the theme song link. The coolest thing is every period (lets say a month for arguments sake) the visitors to the dorkbot page will hear from a new set of random tracks. Then the next month they come back and they hear a random remix from the newly submitted remixes.

* Does this seem like a good idea?
* If so, what is the remix period? I would suggest no less than 4 weeks and no longer than 12. Personally I think 6-8 weeks is a nice period.
* What would people want to use as a remix source? options would be: the mixed down audio, the individual parts broken out, or a remix kit (loops and short clips primarily)

If people are into the idea I can set it up.

Subject: [dorkbotnyc-blabber] theme song remixes

was thinking, remember seeing something encouraging people to submit
new dorkbot themes. i really like the dorkbot theme just the way it
is. but wouldn't it be fun to hear some remixes? for example, i'd
like to combine the dorkbot theme with strawberry fields.

sometimes i have seen people share interfaces at dorkbot which allow
people to manipulate sounds using fairly intuitive-seeming processes,
such as moving balls or sliders around. what if somebody puts one of
these interfaces on the web and figures out a way for it to let you
save remixes of the dorkbot theme? with ways to add other mp3s if you
want to do that? not me, but somebody who enjoys programming a bit
more and maybe understands what i'm talking about better than i do?
maybe somebody already has something like this which could work?

i was thinking it would be really neat to start off each dorkbot with
a different remix randomly selected from the library of dorkbot theme
remixes we can create when we feel like messing around on that
web-based interface,

if anybody feels like making that happen, more people might get a kick
out of it.
