[dorkbotnyc-blabber] Open invitation to informal revolution

Dear Dorkbot community,
I'm hosting an event on the 14th of August and Douglas suggested I petition
the community for help. I realize this is not the prime time to do events,
but figured there'd be some willing folks out there.
Here's the deal: I'm hosting an event designed to create a new social
context for people disenchanted by the state of "going out"--an activity
that, for many, is synonymous with "checking out." I want a place where
people are actually engaged with their world, where they don't feel the need
to compartmentalize their daily life and interests with the manner in which
they socialize. The way I'm hoping to do that is have a normal party (in a
sexy loft at that), but unlike a normal party, have party-goers
present/perform something for 10 minutes or so; the more diverse the subject
matter the better (hence dorkbot). Ideally, there would be quaker-esque
spontaneous sharing, but for the first party I need ringers, people who are
comfortable and adept at performing and engaging with people...like you.
You can check out a little website I have at www.mandalanyc.com (working on
the name, don't worry). Please, I would love your help--the more obtuse the
better, the more animated, the better. And of course, if you don't want to
present, your presence would be great too. Drop me a line and let me know
if you're interested or perhaps have more questions, etc. Thanks so much.
David
