Definitely check out 3rd Ward (http://www.3rdward.com/) or the Gowanus
Studio Space (http://www.gowanusstudio.org/). The both offer full wood and
metal shops as well as classes, rent-able studio space and other amenities.
The 3rd Ward, which is a little larger and better known, is probably your
best bet. There are some smaller ones around as well that operate as small
arts communes such as Madagascar Institute (http://madagascarinstitute.com/),
but these can tend to be more focused towards a specific goal and not really
directed towards woodworking per se.
Happy hunting.
Best,
Adela
