Microprocesors for Artists class starts November 4th

Have you ever wanted to build a robot or an interactive art 
installation? Have you ever wondered how LEDs, sensors and motors 
work? Through collaborative exercises and the development of in-class 
projects, you will learn how to program and prototype with an Arduino 
microcontroller (http://arduino.cc). This class is geared towards 
beginners, and no prior knowledge of electronics or programming is 
required.

November ReSiDeNts Announced

LEMUR awards November residencies to three great artists: Michael 
Hearst, Roy Vanegas and Hallvardur Asgeirsson.

Michael Hearst is a composer, multi-instrumentalist, writer, and 
producer and  a founding member of the band One Ring Zero. He plans 
on featuring the robots in a series of songs themed on "unusual 
creatures".

Roy Vanegas is  a composer of ambient electronic music and the sole 
member of Noise Floor Music. He'll be creating ambient, beat-driven 
electronic music fused with guitars driven by human and computer.

Hallvardur Asgeirsson, from Reykjavik, Iceland, is a composer
of electroacoustic and classical music, often employing processed
guitars and industrial soundscapes. He plannes to write music for 
LEMUR robotic percussion plus a special version of the Dorophone, a 
guitar equipped with a feedback mechanism.

Submissions for ReSiDeNt are now open for January and future 
residencies. Accepted artists are awarded a one-month residency at 
LEMUR to create a new performance or installation utilizing LEMUR's 
musical robots, MIDI controllers and other technologies.

Artists from all performing and installation disciplines are 
encouraged to apply, including musicians, composers, dancers, 
choreographers, video artists, interactive installation artists, 
performance artists, multimedia artists and others.

LEMUR Heads to Poland With Todd Reynolds

Thanks to generous grants from the Trust for Mutual Understanding and 
the Mid-Atlantic Arts Foundation, LEMUR heads to Poland in November 
with Todd Reynolds for a mini-tour. We'll be hitting Krakow, Warsaw, 
Katowice and Gdynia as part of the annual Audio Art Festival.
