I made a system a while back that would play a particular audio track
based upon the number dialed on an old dial telephone.

If unsynchronized audio is ok, just connect the two wires
from any phone to the speaker connections from your playback device.

If you want the audio to start when the telephone receiver is picked up
that will take a bit more effort but it can still be done.

Is synchronization with picking up the receiver a requirement?
What is the audio source (CD, MP3 player, PC)?

  Amber,

I have a good friend who did just that in graduate school and may be able
to help you. Email me personally and I'll send you her information.

  Hello
Would anyone be willing to give me an electronics lesson? I need to
hack an old style phone so it plays an audio track when you pick up
the receiver. What would you charge?
  Thanks!
