hi everybody,

sorry for this mass e-mail, but i need some help
and i thought i might find help from somebody
in this awesome dorkbotnyc community.

i'm a fulbrighter from germany and i've been living
in new york since last year in august.

currently, i'm enrolled in the 2nd and last year of the
MFA designer as author program at the school of
visual arts. (it's some kind of a graphic design program)

for my one-year thesis however, i'm developing personal
assistive devices for people with reduced mobility. the
reason why i'm focusing on this particular topic is because
i wanted to develop something for people in need, and while
looking through products for people with disabilities, i found
out that there are tons of products out there that are not
aesthetic at all!!! soooo ugly!!! sometimes they aren't even
functioning. right now, i'm focusing on dressing aids, but since
i'm still in the beginning of my thesis, this might change a bit
and i might cover other assistive devices in the daily living
section as well. my audience are people who have reduced
hand and moving function. (including the elderly as my secondary
audience)

since i'm going to develop prototypes, i'm looking for
a product/industrial designer who i can collaborate with,
or just ask for advice once in a while regarding the right use
of material, etc.

i'm looking for a student, a professional practitioner, or maybe
you know somebody in this field who you can recommend
to me?

depending on the contribution, i'm willing to barter design services
with you or maybe even compensate you. but let's talk about that
more in specific if all this appeals to you.

i'd appreciate any answer that helps me a step further.

thanks bunches!

best,
hyun-jung

(oh.. by the way, i'm female. just saying this
because it's hard to tell from my name. ;)
