[dorkbotnyc-blabber] circuit help - extracting closed captions from
broadcast news

Hi All,
I'm working on a media monitoring application for a small non-profit.
We're recording network news broadcasts for analysis and satire
purposes and would like to add closed captions to our existing capture
system. Our analog to digital converters don't handle the CC data so
I've found a small standalone circuit that should do the trick - it
takes an incoming video signal, extracts the closed caption data and
sends it, via hyperterminal, to a host computer.

While I've done very simple circuit assembly (kits) in the past,
sourcing the parts and any debugging that might be necessary, are way
out of my league. Seems like a fairly simple circuit - 33 components
in total, of which 20-something are unique.
Whatcha say? Want to hack this together? We're a fledging startup but
can offer beer, pizza and a little bit of $ to the right person.
Knowledge of PIC programming / Hyperterminal a plus.
Cheers,
- Lou
