Inflatable sculpture/valving system solutions?

I am co-creating an interactive sculpture in MAX MSP that that  
consists of several inflatable components that inflate and deflate  
based on digital input. My collaborator and I are trying to figure  
out the best system and materials to use for regulating the air  
pressure through a series of valves that open and close. We are  
considering two options: a blower for the air source and possibly  
incorporating servo motors in the valve design to regulate the air  
pressure; or if it might be better to use a pneumatic system where  
ready made pneumatic valves + pressure gages already exist and can be  
purchased.

Could anyone suggest some possible solutions for materials and systems?
