the NYU computer store has small but decent selection of parts that
are fortunately not exclusive to itp students.

also, if you don't mind getting your hands dirty and doing some
desoldering, Argo Electronics is a great place to check out.
its mostly just bins of random electronic parts, but on a few
occasions its been my savior. (393 Canal Street)
i'd definitely recommend checking out 269 Canal too (as mentioned
earlier).
