buy some wire mesh (such as this: http://www.chomerics.com/products/shieldwrap.htm, or just buy copper mesh from a hardware store) , wrap it around the entire length of the speaker cable, use an alligator clip or a soldered on wire to connect the mesh to building ground (the cylindrical 'third' hole in your wall power outlet, just stick a proper diameter screw in there), might want to encase the speaker in the wire mesh too. Speaker cables should already have sheilding but maybe yours tore or maybe they're really cheap and don't have sheilded wires.

-Lee

Date: Fri, 25 Jan 2008 20:14:25 -0500
From: hoeken@gmail.com
To: dorkbotnyc-blabber@music.columbia.edu
Subject: Re: [dorkbotnyc-blabber] mono powered speakers

does anyone have any suggestions (other than keeping your phone away from speakers) on how to prevent that? thats the biggest problem with listening to music via iphone right there.

~Hoeken
