Hopefully people would be interested in getting together in January for something like this. I am also going to be working on a audio-visual jam time for the space where people can bring electronics of all kinds to do some a-v jamming. Message-ID: <4761B9EC.40804@artengine.ca> How do people feel about making the last Sunday of every second month a Dorkbot meeting at the new M70 lab here at Artengine? On the other last Sunday we will be hosting an audio visual jam called Configure where people can bring together all kinds of audio-visual equipment to experiment and exchange. For this first one we could do some kind of basic presentation on Blender as well as program some other activities, but if people are more interested in something thorough we will need to find and instructor. We could do something like that over the course of weekend or a few weeknights. Any feedback? How about we do "Introduction to Blender, the free 3D modeling program " and make the other half be "Artengine/dorkbot soldering party"? Regarding blender, when I went to last weekend's electronix* meeting in mtl, I spoke to joseph at sat, who may be willing to come out to do a 6 hour blender workshop. I'd rather find a local, but first we see if there is demand. I think I may be up to giving the introduction to blender. I'll do some studying in the next couple weeks and then decide. I'll probably drag my 3D printer along if I do give it. My one basic quibble of feedback is that if people are interested and enthusiastic, I'd like to have some kind of dorkbot meetup every month, perhaps something as informal as a soldering party. Anything less often than that and we'll never have any momentum. We'll see what people think. (Ryan, is the Configure meetup compatible with having a few guys hanging out doing electronics tinkering?) I'll put out an artengine mailing list announcement and tack up some flyers in late January once we're sure about the February 24th date. No one has objected so far, so it seems like a reasonable date. -Sebastien * https://dataflow.ws/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/electronix-dataflow.ws
