They're very friendly to new members. They also have a fairly low-traffic mailing list: http://www.ottawarobotics.org/list.html The Ottawa Robotics Club normally meets on the second monday of each month at 7pm, except when there is a conflict with a holiday such as Easter & Thanksgiving. Jennifer, Tony, do you think you may be going? I'm nearly certain I will be. Also, are you two aware of the artlist mailing list? http://lists.artengine.ca/mailman/listinfo/artlist Most of the Ottawa artist community uses it. I was thinking it would be good to post an email about dorkbot on artengine. There was an electronic arts demo put on by some uottawa students this past weekend which was announced on artengine, actually. I only found out about it today, when I read the email. Full report: No, score=-2.4 required=5.0 tests=AWL,BAYES_00,NO_RELAYS autolearn=ham version=3.1.7 The Arts Birthday is celebrated in Ottawa at the Mercury Lounge on January 17th. This year's title is Airband in celebration of the one hundredth anniversary of the first radio Broadcast. A collection of students from the University of Ottawa's Visual Arts department and guests Ryan Stec and Simon Guibord have come together and organized an event which is an interesting blend of art, music, and technology. "Art's Birthday" is an annual event first proposed in 1963 by French artist Robert Filliou. He suggested that 1,000,000 years ago, there was no art. But one day, on the 17th of January to be precise, Art was born. According to Filliou, it happened when someone dropped a dry sponge into a bucket of water. Modest beginnings, but look at us now. Mercury Lounge 56 Byward Market Square door open at 7pm. http://artengine.ca/artsbirthday http://artsbirthday.net __________________________________________
