DAÏMÕN’s StudiÕ, 80 Hanson St., Gatineau

Since 1997, Diane Morin has been creating kinetic, sound and video
 installations in which the uncertainty of the physical world and the mastery
 associated with digital control come together, generating both a space of
 interference and encounter.

March 7, 2007 at 8:00 p.m, Diane Morin discusses a few of the aspects of her
 work while introducing her recent and current projects to the public. The
 discussion will be held in French. It will be followed by a workshop on
 March 8, 9 and 10, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. In this workshop, Diane
 Morin will offer an overview of analogue and digital control systems and
 their possibilities when used in creating work involving time and
 interaction. Participants will be introduced to the creation and programming
 of electronic systems.

Originally from the region of Kamouraska, Diane Morin lives and works in
 Montréal. Some of her recent activities include participating in Sound +
 Vision, Collaborative Creative Residency, at the Banff Centre (2005),
 carrying out a solo show at Circa in Montreal (2005) and participating in
 the Biennale de sculpture contemporaine de Trois-Rivières and the exhibition
 Meanderings at DAÏMÕN and AXENÉO7 in Gatineau (2006). She has also shown her
 video work at Mercer Union in Toronto (2007). Since 2002, she has been
 participating in the development and creation of interactive textiles with
 Studio subTela (Montreal).

The workshop will be given in French. Cost: $60 (members), $90 (non-members).

StudiÕ de DAÏMÕN, 80, rue Hanson, Gatineau

Depuis 1997, Diane MORIN crée des installations in situ - cinétiques, sonores
 et vidéographiques - qui souvent donnent lieu à un espace de rencontre et de
 brouillage entre l’incertain du monde physique et la maîtrise associée au
 contrôle numérique.

Le mercredi 7 mars à 20h, Diane Morin nous entretiendra de quelques aspects
 de son travail tout en introduisant le public à ses œuvres récentes et à
 quelques projets en cours. Cette soirée est suivie, les 8, 9 et 10 mars, de
 10 h à 16 h, d’un atelier de formation offert aux artistes professionnels.
 Dans le cadre de cet atelier, Diane Morin propose un survol de systèmes de
 contrôle analogiques et numériques et de leurs possibilités d’utilisation
 dans la réalisation d’œuvres impliquant le temps et l’interaction. Le
 participant pourra s’initier à la fabrication de dispositifs électroniques
 et à leur programmation.
