Actually, it turns out you can send, but in order to do so, you need to 
be a member of the official list with the email address you are using on 
Google. I sent that earlier message through their interface. 
Nonetheless, I'd prefer to discourage that to keep confusion down. I 
changed the description for the group to help point people in the right 
direction.
