[dorkbotpdx-blabber] Who is NOT going to make it to the TechShop meetup?

Have you looked at the crucible vs. techshop?

The crucible is more art focused than techshop, two different, but
overlapping models. There is a collective type shop downtown, shop people? I
took a tour, and it didn't seem to be worth it. The shared tools seemed to
be either a pile of broken bits, or not really for sharing.

I think the point is, it can't be all things to all people. I've taken
classes through PCC where we used a high school shop, nice to have, but I
spent more time fixing things than I did actually making stuff. (I do like
fixing things, but it was an issue). If I'm in it to make stuff, I really
don't want the k-12 crowd around, as 1) tools will likely be in as good a
shape 2) the danger aspect. Working in a shop is not completely safe, and
letting someone in who is under 18 yrs asks for additional issues. There are
classes through PCC and other venues that are better equiped to deal with
these issues.

as far as their intelligence gathering, didn't they ask for addresses when
we RSVP's?
