message to the list admin:

i apologize for my software, but i know i'm not the only user
of the Mac OS X Mail Client here. that client appears to have
a bug with parsing certain e-mail addresses, such as this one:

a discussion list for dorkbot-pdx (portland, or) <dorkbotpdx-
blabber at dorkbot.org>

the issue is with the string component having parentheses in it.
the mailer tries to re-write such addresses and fails, and it
makes sending to the list hard. i think it's mistaking it for
a different format.

as far as I can make out RFC2722, there is no reason why you
can't have parentheses there. i'm not claiming anything is
wrong, or your fault, but i just thought i'd ask:
would it be a big problem to take those parentheses
out of the string description for the mailing list?
would anybody else miss them? do they have sentimental or
bureaucratic value?

(unless no other mac users are having this problem, and it's
just my poor laptop's senility overtaking it ...)

yrs pickily, and thanks,

-mykle-
