Hi Kate and Shelly,
I am a Dorkbot lurker these days (and I believe I was hiding behind an
orange badge for six or seven months in Kate's studio at MGS back
during the turmoil of 2002). Sadly having a three-year-old has taken
a bite out of my Mad Scientist social calendar so I haven't been
haunting the halls of Dorkdom lately. HOWEVER, I do have a item of
potential interest to local Dorkboteers (and perhaps others in your
circles) especially in the current economy...
My company (Firsthand Technology Inc.) is looking to hire a Senior 3D
Animator on a wild new government-funded project: It is stereoscopic
3D multi-player direct-manipulation behavior-modification and it is
coming to the Pacific Science Center in 2010. We have nearly reached
critical mass on the construction crew, but the last missing piece is
an appropriately amazing individual to provide artistic vision and key
character design and animation skills. We're looking for a brilliant
artist and master of Maya or 3D Studio Max character design (and
modelling, rigging, and animation) to flesh-out our team. This should
be someone who not only knows the tools inside and out, but also has
deep insight into the character design process.
We have just moved in to our new and super-cool offices on Lake Union
in Seattle ("on" as in on piers and surrounded on three sides by
water-- the other founder is even contemplating commuting by Jet-Ski).
 We have hired our 6th full-time employee (+ one part-time 3D artist)
and we have an amazing group of collaborators including Turner
Exhibits (exhibit fabrication and "Kinetic Architecture"
extraordinaire), LA CAB Exhibits, the co-inventor of holographic TV
and the UW Department of Dental and Public Health Sciences. This is
going to be an amazing project! It embodies everything that our
little education technology company has stood for since 1995:
People-centric design, immersive technology, innovative control and
display systems, and an ambitious, broad-reaching goal to change the
lives of millions. We are missing only our artistic spark-- help us
find it!
Anyone who might be interested should check out:

Thanks,

------>Ari
