Hi all,
Greetings from LIGHTBAR! We just survived our first weekend,
thanks to our excellent volunteers and fine friends, including
many esteemed dorks! For instance:
-- Gordon Gaude lent and programmed his lighting control board,
fader pack, and an exquisite 1000 watt bulb that graces our
entrance.
-- Jason Plumb and Brain Richardson are working on a special
light installation / S.A.D. treatment station / propaganda tool,
to be unveiled very soon.
-- Brad Upchurch is designing an integrated video ceiling powered
by 6 video projectors and a mess of computers. we're still trying
to muster a few more windows boxes for this project, but we've got
the projectors, and I think Brad has completed a sophisticated
3-D model of the Lightbar interior. (hint: it's a sphere!)
once that's working, Brad has a video painting project in
mind, I will be provide planetarium software, and who knows
what else we're do with it?
-- Don is working on a piece that sounds beautiful, but i don't want
to describe it and spoil the surprise. Soon, I'm sure, all
shall be revealed!
-- Cameron Adamez played viola in the orchestra that performed
Terry Riley's landmark 20th century classical work "IN C" last
night. The concert was recorded and filmed -- hopefully we'll
have some footage of that online soon. Ward Cunningham was
also present, taking panoramic photographs.
So THANK YOU DORKBOT! I'm probably forgetting some people here --
it's been a whirlwind of activity, this is my first day off
from LIGHTBAR in like three weeks and i'm a bit dopey-headed.
I may have forgotten to mention that there is now, finally,
a web page for LIGHTBAR 2009, featuring the complete schedule,
at http://mykle.com/lightbar . clip-n-save!
