Don't know if you've ever heard of Pangolin, but I have an old controller and software, a few song modules, and can make it work with winamp to dance around to music.  The laser itself is a green one, about 50mW.  Unfortunately that won't give the great colors that you'd get at OMSI, but it can do the same moves.  Just in green.  If anybody has decent red or blue lasers, we could make it color, unfortunately the only red I have right now has a beam that's too fat to fit on the scanner mirrors.  I don't know what OMSI has now, but when I worked there a couple years ago, the scanners they were using were the same model as what this one uses.

I don't know if anybody saw or heard about a laser on an apartment building last summer in Sellwood, but that was me.  Just put a sheet up outside, and once it got dark out, I'd turn it on.  It's not all that bright, especially compared to the monster they have at OMSI, but if things are dark enough, it's still fun.

does your laser do tricks?  perhaps in sync with music?
i want to devote a night of LIGHTBAR to a planetarium show
and a laser lightshow, ala the lightshows of my youth.
ideally it'd be with a live band, although that's not how
it's traditionally done.
