I'm using the Kiky X-Series. There are user reports are a mixed bag, but all
say that they worked with dance pads, even lighted ones. It works fine with
a regular PS2 pad.

To test, I've connected the pad to my adapter, and then straight into a USB
port on my laptop, with no other USB devices plugged in. I've used junXion
and ControllerMate, both of which will simply display the data being sent by
any HID device. Again, the data all shows up as expected with a PS2 pad, not
with the dance pad.

Another thought I've had is to cannibalize a USB joystick or gamepad and use
its brain instead of the current one (which would also give me a straight-up
USB output instead of needing the adapter).
