Is there a bootloader for the ATmega168 that works particularly well on
the Dorkboard, writes machine code to flash (not some sort of Java or
other bytecode), and has an open protocol?

Can I get a copy of such a bootloader from somewhere?  (I can burn code
via SPI with a little hoop-jumping, but it'd be easier [and would
involve fewer alligator clips] if I could do it from a TTL-level serial
dongle.)  And it'd be less work to use somebody else's bootloader than
to write one myself.
