I'm doing some consulting for an ART/Technology integration project with
a couple artists and right now we're just outlining what we want to do.
I was thinking, this could be an open source ART controller for lots of
things, lights, solenoids, motors, sensor input.... maybe there's
something like this out there already.... I know more and more artists
are playing this this, is there interest?
requirements:
We have 200 solenoids that we want to control based on randomly
generated delays
5-10 analog inputs.
each solenoid control is independent, but the "delays" would be based on
AD input
can be either 5V or 12V ideally (24V is an option as well, but not
preferred).
I was thinking about "modules" that can control groups of 10-25
Transistor outputs/2-4 AD inputs. I know I could make some boards, but
wanted to see if there's something readily available for this project or
something that someone has already worked on? (to cut down on design
time/debugging/implementation). If we need to build boards, that's not
a huge deal, are there any board places that can assemble the units with
components? Budget for the system is $800 for the hardware. There's a
budget for programming as well.
Does anyone have any ideas as far as options go? Maybe even a cheap PLC?
