Yes, Austin and SF are their two current locations. They're talking
about doing one somewhere in Europe (London, maybe, can't remember)
and I think somewhere on the east coast, too.
I totally agree about the crafters -- my wife crochets and I've spent
tons of time in various yarn stores around town and almost every time
there's at least one or two tables with a group of people (both men
and women) working on projects. And seeing all the various craft
stores, TechShop, the hobbiest community, bike builders, DIY
punk-aesthetic types, home recording/experimental audio folk (the
editor of Tape Op, the *best* recording mag out there, lived in
Portland until very recently), etc... makes it pretty clear this could
really work out if a serious effort was made to bring them all
together.
