Why bother with a board at all? Just cut off most of one leg of the Led, 
solder on a resistor, and now you can hook it directly to an output on 
your microcontroller. The other leg is tied to Vcc or ground. Resistors 
of 200 to 1K ohm work fine for AVRs. (These are known as 
"blinkenlights", BTW.)
