I just started doing this too, after thinking about it for a long
time. The first thing you discover is, wow, there are temperature
fluctuations you weren't aware of and you start thinking about ways of
managing the temperatures inside. I live in a 1920's era house. Even
on a thermostat I'm seeing substantial daily diurnal cycles, and they
tend to lag outside temps by 6 hours or more, which is interesting.

We don't have air conditioning, so during the summer on hot days,
managing airflows might have a substantial impact on inside comfort.

I got an outside air temp sensor installed a week ago. The one
problem I'm having is that for about an hour a day the sun shines on
the sensor and gives me a spurious reading. Cloudy days ++! ;-)
