I'd be really interested in a workshop on power and various battery technologies.

How to make power your own circuit or dorkboard with a wall wart, rebuild a laptop battery with NiCads, recharge you ipod with AAs, etc. Discussion about how to know what power you need and how to get it. How to read component specs/datasheets (e.g. min/max power input and output of a relay). At the motor workshop we touched on using a safety diode in circuits with a big load like solenoids -- other things like that would be awesome: when does caution end and parinoia begin with electricity? Might be a good oppurtunity to play with some analog circuits and an oscilliscope (and/or headphones?)
Open-hack is a great idea and seems like it doesn't preclude people who want to dive into dorkboards/benitos/micros from coming for the first time.
For those wondering or cal challenged, the last sunday of this month is the 28th.

If we (the collective dorkbotpdx-we) have the space available on each last Sunday, there's some really solid potential there! A few of us have kicked around the idea of another circuit bending jobby and I've kicked around the idea of a semi-regular patching circle with dorkbot folks....there's also the way overdue widely popular and widely poo-poo'd roll-your-own-pcb-workshop we've talked about for years now...

As long as we think the times aren't too weird, we could consider using the space for the formal presentation/speaker events. Compared to the gallery space we used last time, we'd only be one block away and really won't be giving up much space in favor of a better geometry....
What does everybody else think?

Starting this month we will have the Induction Space on the last sunday of each month and I am working on what is the best approach for the series. If there aren't issues between PARTs and PSU I will be doing a regular induction for the Portland Area Robotics Society meeting at the beginning of next month so I was thinking that this month I would would do an open lab where people could bring in what they were working on and bring in any problems they were having along with sharing ideas for future workshop. This would be free to previous inductees or sliding scale as there will not be any kits involved although I still have motor workshop kits and will bring dorboards as well.

Let me know what you collectively think and I will adjust accordingly.
