Getting it down to a smooth and stable 6V shouldn't be too much of a
problem.
Rectify it, filter it, and then add a voltage regulator.
I can send you a circuit if you like.

What do you want to run off of it?
Do you already have the sound-making circuitry?
Do you want the effect to vary with the speed of cranking?

  I'm hoping to build a a kind of post-apocalyptic hurdy gurdy that will
  run off an old telephone magneto. The magneto puts out about 50V ac
  and it needs to step down to 6v dc. Already have a circuit someone
  sent, but I'm not sure if it's right or where and how to order parts,
  nor how to wire the thing together. Help. My guess is this shouldn't
  take much time. Can trade for any number of things including
  large-format inkjet printing, a Photoshop tutorial, Fringe rush pass,
  etc.
