There are rganizations who act as a 501c3 wrapper for groups who want
501c3 benefits without all the work.
I've worked with Gay Community Social Services in the past, which exists
specifically for this purpose (and supports non-LGBT-specific groups from
time to time). Their membership and reporting requirements are pretty
simple, and they do all the heavy lifting of paperwork, etc.
Something to keep in mind....
