That would be me. At least I'm the only on I know who has been doing any of it so far. I'd love to hear from other folks.
I can post what I've uncovered so far this evening (it's on my home laptop, and I'm at work).
At the moment all I've gotten is the basic command structure of the protocol, and the commands to control motor speed & direction, simply because that's all I've needed so far. I haven't done anything with the other widgets, nor have I read from sensors. The sensor data seems to be coming back in the same structure as the command structure, although I haven't decoded it yet.
I used a serial sniffer that I downloaded from the net to listen in. It took me about a day to figure out the essential details (after going down a couple of mistaken ratholes) but from here on out getting any particular set of details should be pretty simple once someone sets their mind to it.
Does anyone have a wiki up for this?
-mike

Subject: [dorkbotsea-blabber] VEX Serial Protocol Reverse Engineering
I'd like to hook up with the folks that are trying to reverse engineer
the VEX serial protocol. If that's you, would you drop me a line?
I'd like to help and to share results.
Greg
