Kotoka Suzuki will discuss her latest composition, Sift, which will be
performed live by violinist Eric Rynes at this Wednesday's Composer
Spotlight event at 7:30pm. Rynes will record this work at Jack Straw
Productions, under Suzuki's supervision, as part of his 2004 Artist
Assistance recording residency. Suzuki is currently an Assistant Professor
of Music at the University of Chicago.

Artist Talk

Join us in celebrating the opening of Huldre, an interactive installation by
composer and multimedia artist S. Lyn Goeringer. With a focus on both the
heard sound and the illusion of a perceived sound, Huldre explores the
relation between movement and subtle sound. By moving through the
installation, people interact with the "fixed" work presented over the four
speakers by initiating sounds in the wires based on their physical movement
through the space.

S. Lyn Goeringer writes music and creates sound art using whatever tools are
available, from found objects to string quartets. She creates and builds her
own electronic instrumnets; plays theremin, computer, piano, found objects
and sculptures. She also makes interactive sound and video installations
using various spatially oriented triggering devices and surveillance
equipment. She currently resides in Providence, Rhode Island.
